The Banner Elk Volunteer Fire Department is dedicated to protecting life and property in the Elk Fire District, including the Town of Banner Elk, The Village of Sugar Mountain, and areas of Avery County, North Carolina. Our continuing efforts include fire suppression activities, public education, department capability improvement, and other aspects of public safety and community engagement.

You can get involved with your fire department today! Contact the firehouse to discuss becoming a firefighter or medical responder, joining the indispensable Auxiliary, fundraising or event planning, or contributing monetary donations or gifts-in-kind.
